These photos were taken prior to the Eagles’ appearance at Popgala ’73 either backstage or at Mazel’s studio in The Hague. The band is dressed in the same clothing they wore onstage.

These photos were taken by Ethan Russell in late 1971 or early 1972 at Bernie Leadon’s home in Topanga Canyon.
Randy’s fringed jacket can be seen in photos and footage from his Rick Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band period.
“The Eagles before their first record and hence before they were famous. They were being scouted by Glyn Johns who was by then already my dear friend. They look young and happy and not road weary.” –Ethan Russell.

The four Eagles are posed with three friends: Ned Doheny, Jackson Browne and John David Souther.

These photos were most-likely taken around the time of the band’s week-long run at the venue: February 4-9, 1969.

A photo from this session also appeared in a December 1968 Billboard ad (the band was then known as Pogo):

Photo was possibly taken by Henry Diltz, who took some early photos of the band, according to Randy. The image appears to have been shot outdoors, which matches Diltz’s style.
