Bill Mahon, a former student at Lock Haven & reporter for their newspaper, The Eagle Eye, attempted to interview the Eagles while they were dining at their hotel’s restaurant salad bar:

Bill Mahon:

“I had a hunch they would stay at the one hotel in town, the Fallon House, which has stood on Water Street since 1856. I also knew there were few restaurant choices in town so I assumed at dinner time they might go to the hotel’s restaurant.

“With no car, I walked the two miles from my dorm, High Hall, to the hotel and headed directly for the restaurant. My enterprising young reporter skills paid off, briefly, because standing there at the salad bar was Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey and Don Henley. Wow, the actual Eagles.

“I walked up, introduced myself as a reporter with the student paper and asked if I could interview them. They politely said no, they were trying to eat before the show.”

Mahon paid tribute to Randy in his piece, published shortly after Randy’s death in 2023:

“RIP Randy Meisner. Hope you enjoyed that salad. We all enjoyed your music that night.”
