  1. Good morning from the other side of the ocean, on a rainy cool summer day 2023 in Germany,

you might like to her of a sweet little story, happened at the Belly Up on July 18, 1988. Randy Meisner in concert, I enjoying the music from the audience, obviously easily visible from the stage. At some point Randy caught my eyes, held on to them, and since it was the last song of the show, he jumped from the stage, his eyes still fixed on me while he came towards me and imploringly asked: “Would you please wait a few minutes? Got to give an interview backstage, but I would love to see you afterward, please.” I liked the way he looked, and how he looked at me, so I said, “Sure, I’ll wait.”
Didn’t take long and he was back. Happy to see I had indeed waited for him, I proposed we go to the beach – it was full moon, and him being born under the sign of peaceful pisces, like me, and born in the same year, he smilingly accepted without discussion when I said: “I’d love to go to the beach and spend some time with you, but our clothes will stay on, no one-night-stand” (Not that I never had any but this time I didn’t feel like it even though Randy felt very sweet and familiar to me. Go figure.)
We did and dreamed away, holding each other close, talking, dreaming, and no, our clothes never came off. Some time later, the sun was about to rise we decided to leave the beach – and each other: He, waving a smiling good-bye to me from his car on his way to another concert somewhere the next evening, and I happily on my way back home to Encinitas where I lived at the time… We never saw each other again, but every once in a while I remember this dreamy encounter with a very fine man, and how sad I was when much later I heard (and saw photos) of his decline. May he finally rest in peace. Un bacio, wherever you are, caro Randy!
