The following article recounts one night at Record One studios with Val Garay, who produced Randy’s second solo album, One More Song. On this night, they are recording the track “Deep Inside My Heart.” Tensions are high and the work is grueling and repetitious. This article provides a rare glimpse into that process and what Randy was like in the studio.

  1. Thank You so Much Jessica for all your hard work. This article is so interesting & amazing! Your talents are so appreciated!

  2. Such an interesting article. Being non-musical and without rhythm I’m wondering what part of “Deep Inside My Heart” Randy meant when he advised to give a little space between the “dum-dum-dum-dum”

    1. The recording sessions must have been so tedious and exhausting. Plus the pressure for it to sound perfect. My favorite line in the article is where Randy asks himself: “Is Meisner here? No, but his body is.”

  3. You did an amazing job again Jessica. I always enjoy your articles. I am with you on the favorite line from Randy: “Is Meisner here? No, but his body is”. I bet he is a blast to be around with his sense of humor. Thanks again Jessica.

  4. What a fascinating article – thank you Jessica. I had no idea that most music was recorded during the night and that the life of a rockstar was not as glamorous as I thought! There are obviously a lot of very clever people involved.

  5. The life of a “Rock Star” and the recording business is cruel at times. The long, tedious hours are grueling and exhausting, but once it’s done and you know you hit the mark, the rewards are endless 🙂 It’s definitely “a process”, and not at all a short one. There are many a night when your stomach feels *really, really sick!

  6. He hailed from the Ne Panhandle and went on with his dream to be singer/musician and after several Bands, put the group together that would launch his career with what would be the Greatest Rock Group The Eagles!!!🦅 You did it Randy Meisner and we will never forget you or your music!!! And I was one of Randy’s earliest Fans from the days attending shows by the Drivin Dynamics!!! From a young girl raised on a ranch just over the state line in Wy close to where Randy was from, this was the first band that influenced me and I always enjoyed their music!! Then years later, I would see that The Eagles were going to be in concert in Dallas, Tx and I wasted no time getting tickets!!! I was so proud of Randy’s accomplishments and I was a Rocker!!! I’m honored to be a fan of Randy Meisner, still to this day!!!
