I’ve noticed that the subject of Randy’s death date has been discussed on fan groups and fan sites in recent days. Here are the facts: Randy’s death date is July 25th, 2023. This is per his death certificate. The reason the funeral home and his obituary have this date is because it was on the death certificate that was sent to Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff, NE, who handled his funeral arrangements & burial. Randy died in the late evening of July 25th at a hospital in Los Angeles. It’s possible that his conservator thought it was the 26th because the death took place so late at night & that’s why he provided this incorrect date to the Eagles, who made the official announcement. Because this date was published with the official announcement, which was then spread to major news organizations far and wide, it is considered the official death date. Wikipedia will not change it because of this. The family was not aware of the July 25th date until the death certificate was sent to the funeral home nearly one month after Randy’s death.

    1. No, they only had the date they were given when they were informed of his death on July 27th. They didn’t get the real date until they received the death certificate that had to be sent to the funeral home along with his urn.

  1. Thank you for this definitive clarification Jessica. I find it so extraordinarily sad that his family were not with him upon his passing. Rest peacefully Randy.

      1. He definitely deserved so much more. Tragic. I wish you would write a book about all that you have learned about Randy. I have no doubt that people would be very distressed about some things.

      2. I agree with you, Jessica.

In 2016, if his health problems weren’t bad enough, he had to go through two major bereavements – first Glenn Frey unexpectedly died, and then his wife Lana accidentally shot and killed herself.
The latter two within two months must’ve been unbearable for him to have to endure.

  2. I do hope there was somebody by his bedside when he died. To have died alone would be the saddest end to any life, let alone one who was so universally loved by so many.

    1. I hope he wasn’t alone, either. To be so sick and in the hospital by yourself when the end comes has got to be just terrible.
